Agent Skills for Context Engineering skill

A library of Claude Code Agent Skills covering context fundamentals, context compression, context optimization, memory systems, multi agent patterns, tool design and evaluation, each shipped with worked examples.

What it does for you: This is a ready made set of context engineering patterns YY can read and adapt directly into AXION Skills, including a context compression skill and a memory systems skill that map onto the exact context budget failures this newsletter pipeline itself has had. It is file based, so Hermes can use the same skill files without any SDK integration work.

In practice: Unusually rigorous for a skills repo, dated benchmark tables instead of just claims, worth reading the context compression and memory files directly.

For: Both runtimes. Ships as plain Claude Code Agent Skill files, markdown plus examples, no Claude Code only API calls, so Hermes or any file based agent runtime can read and apply the same files.

Chrome DevTools MCP plugin

Official Google MCP server that connects an agent to a live Chrome browser over the DevTools Protocol, shipping roughly 59 tools for input automation, navigation, performance tracing, console debugging, network inspection and memory analysis.

What it does for you: YY already does manual headless Chrome render verify and screenshot checks for every visual deliverable. This plugin gives an agent direct, scriptable control of a real Chrome instance including performance traces and console errors, which could tighten the render verify and click through steps instead of doing them by hand each time.

In practice: Already basically install and go as a Claude Code plugin, backed by Google, the kind of infrastructure other tools quietly depend on.

For: Both runtimes. Standard MCP server, works with any MCP capable client including Claude Code and, if Hermes speaks MCP, Hermes too.

Claude Security plugin

Official Anthropic Claude Code plugin named Claude Security, it reviews Claude generated code for security issues across pattern warnings on every edit and an agentic reviewer in hooks, agents and workflows folders.

What it does for you: Runs automatically as code is generated and flags security issues like injection and hardcoded secrets before they reach a commit, a free second pair of eyes on anything Axion builds automatically for MCL.

In practice: Solid and boring in a good way, versioned commits every few weeks rather than a one off blog launch.

For: Claude (Axion). Ships as an official Claude Code plugin with hooks and agents wired into Claude Code's own PreToolUse, PostToolUse and stop lifecycle, not a portable library.

mcpscore plugin

A Lighthouse style auditor for MCP servers, scoring any server 0 to 100 on protocol conformance, tool quality, security and auth posture, with a CLI, GitHub Action and hosted site, no API key or sign up required.

What it does for you: YY has been adding MCP servers steadily this quarter, context mode, Notion, LinkedIn, team CRM. This gives a one command way to check a new MCP server's security posture before wiring it into Axion or Hermes, instead of trusting the vendor's README.

In practice: Small and quiet, exactly the kind of boring due diligence tool worth running before every new MCP server install, verified directly on the repo rather than taken on faith.

For: Both runtimes. Standalone CLI and GitHub Action that audits any MCP server regardless of which client or agent runtime calls it, no Claude Code or Hermes specific code.

sqz repo

A Rust command line tool that compresses tool output before it reaches the model, deduplicating repeated file reads into short token references, with zero LLM calls so the compression is deterministic and offline.

What it does for you: This newsletter run itself is proof of the problem sqz targets, the skill file explicitly warns against reading large registry and brain files whole because it burns context. sqz automates exactly that kind of deduplication for any Claude Code or MCP session, directly useful across every Axion workflow, not just this one.

In practice: Small and single maintainer, but the README reads like someone who measured their own numbers rather than a marketing page.

For: Both runtimes. A Rust CLI that sits in front of Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any MCP client as a transparent proxy, language and runtime agnostic, so Hermes could sit behind it the same way Claude Code does.

Langfuse repo

Open source LLM tracing, evaluation and prompt management platform, currently mid way through a v3 to v4 rewrite aimed at faster trace ingestion at scale.

What it does for you: If YY ever wants to see exactly what a Hermes or Axion agent run actually did, every tool call, every subagent, every cost, this is the dashboard for it. Right now that visibility mostly lives in transcripts and logs, Langfuse would turn it into something searchable.

In practice: Mature to the point of being boring, almost the default pick, but the v3 to v4 cutover date is a real near term migration chore worth knowing about now.

For: Both runtimes. Self hosted or cloud tracing platform reached via SDKs and an API, not tied to Claude Code, so both Axion and a Hermes based runtime can send traces to it.

Claude Code Mods repo

Anthropic's new in process extensibility layer for Claude Code, TypeScript or JavaScript handlers that intercept tool calls, render UI or block dangerous commands, running inside the same process as the agent loop rather than as an external hook or MCP server.

What it does for you: This is a capability upgrade to the harness YY already runs every day. A well written mod could block a dangerous command pattern before it executes rather than after, something today's hooks do slightly differently. Worth a small pilot mod rather than a wholesale adoption.

In practice: First party, this is the harness getting smarter, not a third party wrapper around it.

For: Claude (Axion). In process extensibility feature of the Claude Code CLI itself, mods run inside the same process as the Claude Code agent loop, this is not something Hermes could run.

wshobson/agents plugin

A large multi harness plugin marketplace bundling plugins, agents and skills across seven coding tools, with a documented quality evaluation process and a skills only installer that pulls a single skill without the rest of the repo.

What it does for you: Instead of building a skill from scratch, YY can browse this marketplace and cherry pick one tested skill at a time into AXION Skills using the skills only installer, which avoids dragging in the other 93 plugins and 200 plus agents he does not want.

In practice: Big and well organized, the skills only installer is the part worth stealing, the rest is too much surface area to install wholesale.

For: Both runtimes. Explicitly a multi harness marketplace covering Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, GitHub Copilot, Google Antigravity and Pi, and ships a skills only installer that drops plain files usable by any file reading agent.

browser-use repo

Open source Python library that lets an LLM agent control a real browser to navigate sites, fill forms and extract data, positioned as the browsing layer under many autonomous agent stacks.

What it does for you: This is the kind of library that could underpin an automated click through verification step for Ouria funnel pages or GHL screens, the exact manual clicking render verify currently requires by hand.

In practice: Genuinely one of the fastest growing agent tools right now, the kind of quiet infrastructure that ends up load bearing under a dozen other products.

Reins repo

Security policy enforcement for AI agents implemented as Claude Code PreToolUse and PostToolUse hooks, scanning configs for agent security vulnerabilities and evaluating policy in under 50 milliseconds before an action runs.

What it does for you: Axion already uses a PreToolUse and PostToolUse hook pattern for the build gate and secrets gate. This is a ready made policy engine built for exactly that same hook surface, worth comparing against the hand rolled gates already in settings.json.

In practice: Directly useful for a solo operator running real file and shell access, a guardrail that hooks into the mechanism Claude Code already exposes rather than bolting on a separate watcher.

For: Both runtimes. Hooks into the PreToolUse and PostToolUse surface, which Claude Code, OpenClaw and any MCP compatible agent all expose, not Claude Code exclusive.

Browserbase MCP / Stagehand plugin

Browserbase's SDK and MCP server for browser automation agents, combining natural language act, observe and extract primitives with raw Playwright style control, now with domain allowlist and blocklist navigation controls.

What it does for you: This is closer to production grade than browser-use for anything touching real client sessions, the domain allowlist feature specifically limits an agent to the pages it should be on, useful for any unattended browser agent run against Ouria or MCL funnel pages.

In practice: Well funded and mature, but the standalone MCP repo being folded into the main Stagehand repo mid year is the kind of change that breaks a saved install command if nobody is watching.

CrewAI repo

A standalone multi agent orchestration framework for role based crews of agents collaborating through flows and pipelines, with recently added MCP and A2A protocol support and streaming.

What it does for you: If Hermes ever needs more than one agent coordinating on a single MCL workflow, say a researcher agent handing off to a writer agent, this is a mature reference pattern to borrow from rather than building a crew abstraction from zero.

In practice: The most battle tested of the orchestration frameworks surfaced this cycle, feels like a safe default if a role based crew pattern is ever needed.

What it does for you: The keyless, local model option means YY could give Axion or Hermes a real long term memory layer without paying for an LLM API key on every ingest, directly relevant to how the 2nd Brain vaults already work with local markdown files.

An open source, MIT licensed workspace for building and managing LLM prompts and agents, with git like prompt variants, three built in deploy environments, a playground supporting over 50 models and 20 plus evaluators with online evaluation against production traces.

What it does for you: If YY ever wants to A/B test a prompt change for an MCL hook or ad angle without hand editing a file and hoping, this gives dev, staging and prod prompt versions plus a playground to compare outputs side by side before shipping.

In practice: The most boring and most trustworthy candidate in the prompt engineering space this cycle, consistent version numbers and dates, no inflated claims found anywhere.

What it does for you: If YY starts trying community mods for Claude Code Mods above, this is the due diligence tool to run first, it tells you whether a mod can touch the network or just draw UI before you let it run inside your Claude Code process.

In practice: Smart, exactly the kind of due diligence tool worth having before letting a random community mod run inside the agent process, the reach tiering idea is genuinely useful.

Laminar repo

Open source, OpenTelemetry native observability platform with a Claude Agent SDK integration that traces every model turn, tool call and nested subagent spawned via the Agent tool, built on a transparent Rust proxy rather than SDK side patching.

What it does for you: Axion runs heavy subagent fan out, this scout run alone spawned eleven. Laminar would let YY see the whole subagent tree of a run in one trace instead of piecing it together from transcript text, which is exactly the kind of visibility missing today.

In practice: Fills a real, documented gap, official OpenTelemetry support for the SDK is still an open Anthropic feature request, so this is genuinely ahead of upstream.

A teams first multi agent orchestration layer for Claude Code with a documented SDK based integration path that explicitly names OpenClaw, Hermes and Grokbot as target agent runtimes, shipping performance monitoring and a model to agent compatibility matrix.

What it does for you: This is one of very few tools found this cycle that names YY's own Hermes runtime as a target, rather than being generic Claude Code tooling, worth a direct look even though the branding leans heavily on memeable naming.

In practice: The explicit Hermes mention is the standout fact here, worth a closer look once the marketing language is set aside and the actual orchestration code is read.

A memory first coding agent harness built on Letta's stateful agent framework, where agents keep persistent memory blocks they read and rewrite themselves and carry identity across terminal, desktop and web sessions.

What it does for you: This is the closest thing found this cycle to a direct competitor of Claude Code built specifically around memory as the core design bet. Its new MEMORY.md based agent seeding feature overlaps almost exactly with how Axion's own memory files are already organized, worth reading for pattern ideas even without adopting the tool itself.

In practice: Basically a cousin of Claude Code with memory as the core bet, worth a trial run against Axion's own memory patterns, but young enough that the API is still shifting fast.

claude-code-subagents plugin

Eleven tested, least privilege Claude Code subagents, each with an explicit report contract, covering code review, security audit, test writing, debugging and migration review, installable as a plugin and verified against a pinned Claude Code version.

What it does for you: This is the exact split test pattern Axion's own global rules already require, least privilege subagents with a clear report contract so the orchestrator can verify output without re reading the whole trace. Worth comparing its report contract format against what Axion agents already return.

In practice: The idea is right, least privilege tool pinning plus a report contract is exactly what a solo operator needs to trust a subagent's output, but zero stars means nobody else has vetted it yet.
